Water Company – No Service Disruptions from Storms

In the wake of severe storms and widespread loss of electricity in areas of the state, Aqua Ohio (Aqua) reports that there have been no interruptions to water service in Marion.

Tire Disposal Offered to Local Farmers

The DKMM (Delaware, Knox, Marion, Morrow) Solid Waste District will be sponsoring two Farm Tire Collection Days this summer for District residents who own or operate farm equipment. One will be held in mid-July and another in mid-August. Residents must register prior to attending this collection. No dealers or Agri-Businesses will be permitted.

Juvenile Offender Quickly Captured After Escape

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says an unidentified youth offender escaped the North Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center, 1440 Mt. Vernon Avenue, on July 7, 2012 at approximately 4:06pm. He was arrested a short time later with the help of an alert witness.

Crump Wanted for Probation Violation

The Marion County Adult Probation Department is seeking 26-year-old Zachary Crump for a probation violation. He is a white male, 6'0" tall and 193 lbs with hazel eyes and brown hair. His last known address is 814 Richmond Avenue in Marion.

State Warns of ‘Notario Scams’ Following New Immigration Policy Announcement

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission are urging anyone who is interested in pursuing participation in the federal government's deferred action process not to be deceived into paying for expensive assistance in applying. It's not yet clear what fees, if any, will be necessary and the federal government has asked that these requests not be submitted until it creates a process to accept them.

State Rep., Farm Bureau to Co-Host Shale Town Hall Meeting

State Representative Dorothy Pelanda along with Korre Boyer, Organization Director for the Marion County Farm Bureau Federation, will host a public forum on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tri-Rivers Career Center, 2222 Marion Mt. Gilead Rd., to discuss shale issues facing the county.

Agency Says AEP Capacity Charges are Excessive

Residential customers may pay a high price for AEP’s transition to electric competition—and the Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC) is concerned that it may be hundreds of millions of dollars.  This is the result of a decision this week by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) that resolved a dispute over capacity charges, which are costs the utility charges its competitors who sell electricity to customers in its territory.

Patrol Makes Over 26,000 Traffic Contacts During Holiday

The Ohio State Highway Patrol made more than 26,000 traffic contacts this July 4th holiday. In addition, 4 people lost their lives over the two-day reporting period which began Tuesday, July 3 at Midnight and ran through Wednesday, July 4 at 11:59 p.m.
