Marion Red Cross Holding Annual Meeting

The Marion County Chapter of the American Red Cross will conduct its annual membership meeting and election of board members on Wednesday, June 20th, 2012. The event is scheduled to run from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. and will be held at The Alber Red Cross Center, 1849 Summerset Drive, Marion.

Ohio Unemployment Rate Down as More Find Work

Ohio's unemployment rate was 7.3 percent in May, down from 7.4 percent in April, according to data released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). Ohio's nonfarm wage and salary employment increased 19,600 over the month from the revised 5,139,300 in April to 5,158,900 in May.

Waldo Business Celebrates 50 Years, Raises Funds for Veterans Park

The G&R Tavern in Waldo celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 9, 2012 with a raffle for a 55” Visio television. The winner of the television was Corky Thomas of Marion. The big winner, however, was Veterans Memorial Park in Marion.

Marion Concert Band Kicks Off Summer Concert Series

The Marion Concert Band will kick off their summer concert series Sunday, June 18, at the Erickson Pavilion in McKinley Park in Marion. Various groups will perform there each Sunday evening at 7:00pm during the summer months.

Black Wanted for Probation Violation

The Marion County Adult Probation Department is seeking 26-year-old Brandon Black for a probation violation. He is a black male, 6'1" tall and 205 lbs with brown eyes and black hair. He is originally from Detroit, MI, but his last known address is 434 North Prospect Street in Marion.

Ohio House Passes Changes to Concealed Carry Law

Concealed handgun permit holders could legally have clips loaded with bullets next to their weapons in their cars under legislation approved Wednesday by the Ohio House.

House lawmakers voted, 57-26, for the measure, which also would lift other restrictions in the concealed carry law.
