Woman Sought for Probation Violation

The Marion County Adult Probation Department is looking for 52-year-old Blendia J. Nicolosi. She is described as being 5'4", 160 lbs, with blonde/light brown hair and blue eyes. Her last known address is 808 Underwood Drive in Marion.

Water Safety Urged, “Stay Out and Stay Alive”

The Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and the Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA)  have joined forces to promote summer water safety through the “Stay-Out and Stay-Alive” program.

City of Marion Fogging for Mosquitoes

The City of Marion will be fogging mosquitoes on Friday, June 25th, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, if weather conditions permit. The areas that will be sprayed include the city parks.

Neighborhood Complaints Lead to Drug Arrest

This morning, Thursday, June 24, the MARMET Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 139 West Walnut Street in the City of Marion in connection to a drug trafficking investigation. During the search, officers say they found drugs and made one arrest.

Boys and Girls Club in Marion Award Finalist

The Boys & Girls Club of Marion County was recently nominated among a handful of 37,000 non-profit organizations statewide for the Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award.

Drunk Boaters Target of Ohio’s Waterways Safety Enforcement

As many as 70 State Watercraft officers, joined by U.S. Coast Guard and local marine patrol officers, will participate in Operation Dry Water June 25-27 to remove boaters impaired by alcohol and drugs from state waterways, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Watercraft.

Ohioans Feel Canadian Earthquake

A Canadian earthquake rattled Ohio, from plaster cracking in Cleveland and buildings gently swaying in Cincinnati.

There were no immediate reports of any major damage in Ohio from Wednesday’s 1:41 p.m. quake with a magnitude of 5. It struck near the Ontario-Quebec border.

New Deputy Wardens Hired at Marion Dog Pound

The Marion County Commissioner approved the hiring of two deputy dog wardens for the Marion County Dog Pound. This fills two positions that had been vacant for some time as the facility was run by the Dog Warden Amie Adams.

Hired, at an hourly rate of $11 per hour, were Matthew Severns and Andrew Howser with a starting date of July 6. The two will be subject to a 120 day probationary period.

Symposium will bring together experts on the life of Warren G. Harding to discuss his presidency, life, and impacts he had on the U.S., the world, and history in general. The Warren G. Harding Symposium, set for July 23 and 24, is an academic, social, and cultural exploration of the life and times of America's 29th president.
