Marion County Recycling and Litter Prevention, Downtown Marion, and a host of volunteers are holding a Downtown Clean Up on Thursday, April 18, 2013. The day is part of a host of Earth Week activities being held in Marion.
The public is invited to join them for lunch and festivities at the Marion County Courthouse, on the corner of Main and Center Streets) starting at noon on Thursday. Food will be available for purchase from Baire’s Restaurant, Sweet Dee’s Delights, Pat Upp’s Woodfired Pizza, The Candy Shack and The Warehouse.
Trash bags, work gloves and reusable water bottles will be provided for those wanting to pitch in and help clean up the area. Angela Carbetta, Marion County Recycling and Litter Prevention Director, reminds that a clean, green downtown is good for business.
Prior to the clean up, Carbetta will hand out her annual Green Community Awards during the Marion County Commissioners meeting on Thursday at 9:00am. The awards will be followed by an organic, zero-waste continental breakfast.
