Pleasant Firefighters Holding Pancake Breakfast

The Pleasant Township Firefighters are holding their annual pancake breakfast from 7:30am to 11:30am on Saturday, May 1 at the Pleasant Township Senior Center. 

Firefighters are asking residents to support this fundraiser and also to vote "yes" for the department's issue on the May 4 ballot.

The breakfast will feature raffle giveaways for a 50-inch flat screen TV and a bicycle for kids younger than 12. Winners do not need to be present.

Local businesses have donated lots of other raffle items as well.

Annual Rummage Sale Benefits Heritage Hall

The Marion County Historical Society is having a Museum and Membership Rummage sale on April 17, Saturday from 9-5 PM. A Members Only Presale will be held on April 16 from 4-8 pm. Bring your Membership ID for admittance to the presale.

The sale will be held in the auditorium at Heritage Hall and also in the parking lot behind the museum, weather permitting.

Popcorn Festival Holding Spring Fling

The Marion Popcorn Festival is hosting a Spring Fling to benefit the Miss Teen Popcorn Scholarship program.  It will take place on Saturday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Primrose of Marion located at 1550 Wellness Drive in Marion.

Hundreds Explore Their Way Through History

On March 26 and 27, the Marion County Historical Society hosted “A Night at Heritage Hall,” two evenings of self-guided flashlight tours throughout the museum, a historic 1910 Federal Post Office.

Stock Your Pond With Elgin FFA Fundraiser

The Elgin FFA is selling fish fingerlings to the public for use in stocking ponds.

The Elgin FFA says they are offering new and established pond owners the opportunity to stock their ponds more conveniently and at low cost with Ohio raised fish.

Fish orders will be accepted until Friday, April 23, 2010. Fish will be supplied through Fisheadz Farm, Mt. Gilead, Ohio.

Annual Children’s Festival Is Sunday

Stand for Children's 14th Annual Children's Festival is Sunday, April 11, at Tri-Rivers from noon-3:00pm.

Admission is free and the event features lots of activities, a prize walk, raffle and more. Local mascots will be on hand to meet the kids. All children 12 & under will receive a free book while supplies last.

All proceeds benefit Cents for Shoes of Marion County.

Auditor Candidate Holding Fundraiser At Winery

Lewis Holland, the Republican candidate for Marion County Auditor in 2010, is holding a fundraiser on Saturday, April 10, at 5:30pm.

The event is at Shamrock Winery, 111 County Road 25 (Rengert Road) near Waldo. There will be a silent auction and wine by the glass or by the bottle. Admission is free.

Marion Evening Lions Club Hosting Trivia Contest

The Marion Evening Lions Club is testing the knowledge of Marion trivia buffs. They are holding a trivia challenge at Buffalo Wild Wings on Sunday afternoon, April 25, beginning at 2:00.

Teams of four (or fewer) can enter to win great prizes for only $10 each. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and silent auction.

Questions will cover a range of topics including OSU, sports, entertainment and Marion County history. It is all about having a great afternoon and supporting the Lions sight programs.

Event Raises Thousands For Cancer Society

bluefusion entertainment center & Jazzercise raised close to $4000.00 for the American Cancer Society through the event ”Laugh for Life” which was held in Poppy’s Sports Bar & Grille, located inside bluefusion entertainment on Saturday, March 20th, 2010.
