Marion Palace Theatre management says the film October Baby (PG-13) will be shown on May 18, 19 and 20 at the Marion Palace Theatre. Show times are Friday at 7:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm.

Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Texting While Driving

Ohio is on its way to becoming the 39th state to ban texting while driving, and the first state to ban minors from using hand-held electronic devices behind the wheel. The Ohio House approved the revised version of H.B. 99, Tuesday, May 15, 82-12. The bill will now go to Governor Kasich who is expected to sign it into law.

City of Marion Cleanup Day

Mayor Scott Schertzer has announced that the City of Marion will sponsor a Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Any City of Marion resident, currently on City Sanitation Service, wishing to dispose of unwanted items can take those items directly to the Marion County Solid Waste Transfer Station, 1564 Victory Road (directly east of the Marion Correctional Institute).

Police – Man Found Drowned at Marion Park

The Marion Police Department says a Marion man was found dead Saturday, May 12, 2012 from an accidental drowning while fishing at Quarry Park.

Police received a 911 call on Saturday at just after 10:00am saying a person had been found face down in the water at Quarry Park, 1202 Hillman-Ford Road.

Two Gun Shot Incidents Reported in Marion

The Marion Police Department says there were two reports of gun shots in Marion on Saturday, May 12. No victims have come forward and police are still investigating leads.

Marion Public Health Adopts New Plumbing Registration Rule

The Marion Public Health Board of Health recently adopted Resolution #2012-002 which will require all plumbers doing residential work that requires a permit to be state licensed. Currently, only plumbers that work on a commercial building must be state licensed. The new requirement begins January 1, 2013.
