Admin Professionals Day Luncheon, Seminar in Marion

The Harding Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals will present an Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon and Seminar from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Tuesday, April 24, at TRECA, 100 Executive Drive. The event entitled “Admins, the Pulse of the Office” is for administrative and executive assistants, secretaries and other administrative professionals.

Elgin to Present “Legally Blonde the Musical”

Elgin High School presents “Legally Blonde the Musical”.  Performances are April 19-21, 2012 at 7:00pm in the Elgin Auditorium. A dinner theater will be held on Saturday night, April 21 for an additional $10, and the doors open at 5:00pm.

Marion GOP to Host Gun Rights Champion

The Marion County Republican Club will host Second Amendment Attorney Ken Hanson on April 16th at 7:00pm.  He will present information on, legislation pending in the Ohio General Assembly, areas where Ohio’s firearm laws are still lagging, the history of Second Amendment litigation in the federal courts, and the current status of Second Amendment litigation and the likely road ahead.

Students Square Off Using Brain Power at National Robotics Challenge in Marion

Robotic teams of young people, aspiring engineers representing elementary, middle school, high and post-secondary schools, will converge with 350 robots to compete in 12 categories at the National Robotics Challenge (NRC) being held on April 12-14 at the Marion County Fairgrounds Veteran Memorial Coliseum in Marion, Ohio. Over 1,000 kids from 72 schools will be competing.

Dixon Named MGH Physician of the Year

In recognition of National Doctors’ Day, Kathy D. Dixon, MD, family practice physician, was chosen by Marion General Hospital associates as MGH Physician of the Year for 2012. A media release stated, "Dr. Dixon’s unexpected death this past December was a loss felt by our hospital and our entire community."

Terradise Garden Tour is Sunday

On Sunday, April 15, Trella Romine will open the riverside garden at her home, Terradise, at 1536 Whetstone River Road North southwest of Caledonia, for visitors from 1:00 until 4:00 P.M. The six acre area has over twenty-five species of trees and shrubs.

Fry Wanted on Three Warrants

The Marion Police Department is seeking Mason D. Fry. He was previously highlighed as their "Warrant of the Week" in late February. He is a 19-year-old white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He stands 5-feet 8-inches tall and weighs 145 lbs. His last known address was 209 Bellevue Avenue.

Elgin FFA Chapter Receives Gold Medal Rating

In the Ohio FFA State Association, the Elgin FFA Chapter was one of 40 chapters that recently earned the Gold recognition. The State FFA Association will present this award at the Ohio FFA Convention.

City Council Debates Possible Impact of Reducing Tax Credit

Marion City Council members disagree on the possible impact of reducing a tax credit for those people who live within the City of Marion, but work in other cities. Some members believe there will be few people that choose to move out of the City, while some feel many people will move, which will result in a spirally downturn for the community.
