Nearly 300 Named to MTC Dean’s List

Marion Technical College has named 293 full-time students to its Winter Term dean’s list. To qualify for the scholastic honor, a student must earn at least 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 academic average for the term and be enrolled at MTC as a full-time student.

Timothy Lutheran Holding Good Friday Day Camp

All area children, ages 4 through 6th grade, are invited to come to Good Friday Day Camp at Timothy Lutheran Church on Friday, April 6, 2012. The day will begin at 9:00am and last until 3:00pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Houseworth Sought for Probation Violation

The Marion County Adult Probation Department is seeking 30-year-old Shane Houseworth for a probation violation. He is a white male, 5'9" tall and 165 lbs with brown eyes and brown hair. His last known address is 807 1/2 Oak Grove Avenue in Marion.

Former, Current County Recorders Honored by Republicans

The former and current Marion County Recorders were recently honored as Republican of the Month for January and February by the Central Committee of the Marion County Republican Party.

Mary Jo Osmun, recently retired Marion County Recorder for the past eight years was selected for January.  February's selection is Karen Douglas, who last month was appointed to fill the vacancy when Osmun retired.

Easter Eggs-Travaganza for Marion Goodwill

Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm, bluefusion entertainment, 1340 Mt. Vernon Avenue in Marion, is hosting an Easter Eggs-Travaganza as a community event with Marion Goodwill Industries. Families and kids of all ages are welcome to participate in all the activities planned for the event, including photographs with the Easter Bunny, crafts, and prizes.

Auditions Set for Palace Production of “Annie”

Clare Cooke, George Schram, Kristi Wink, and Johnny Steiner announce auditions for the Palace Theatre’s summer musical Annie. Those interested may audition on Saturday, May 19 & Sunday, May 20.  Auditions are from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each day in the May Pavilion.  Participants should enter through the front Pavilion doors.

Marion Church Holding Spring Bazaar

Trinity Baptist Church, 244 South Main Street in Marion, will hold a Spring Bazaar on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Christian Center adjacent to the Church. All proceeds will go toward the repair of the Church elevator.

Community Effort Results in Bike Lanes, Sidewalks for State Route 95

After receiving over 60 comments from Marion residents regarding a project to improve safety on State Route 95, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has made changes to their plans, including the addition of bike lanes and some sidewalks. Over half of the comments received specifically address those two issues.

Public Input Sought for Marion Tallgrass Trail

Monday, April 2, 2012 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, the board of the Marion County Park District will host a public participation meeting in the conference room at the Marion Family YMCA. The meeting is an effort to gather public input on the Marion Tallgrass Trail and to provide information on the future growth of the bike and walking trail.

Tri-Rivers Issues Alumni, Service Awards
