Local Woman to be Honored at OSU Summer Commencement
Five individuals, including Marion's own Trella Romine, will be honored at The Ohio State University’s summer 2012 commencement for their contributions to society and academics, and their dedication to the university. The university will present the Distinguished Service Award to Romine, who was instrumental in establishing the Larry Yoder Prairie Nature Preserve at Ohio State Marion.
OSU Leaders to Recommend Tuition Increase
Ohio State University leaders Wednesday announced they will recommend a 3.2 percent increase in undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees for the 2012-13 academic year. Translated into dollars, in-state Ohio State undergraduates will see an annual increase of $312 for a typical two-semester academic year.
Ohio State Increases Financial Aid by $50 Million
The Ohio State University has announced a $50 million increase in student financial aid over the next four years. The initiatives include new scholarships and grants that will help additional students attend the university each year.
Ohio State to Use Online Roommate Matching System
Ohio State University is using a written survey to match up freshman roommates in the final year before the process is computerized.
The school will move to an online system that will determine whether students are likely to get along based on factors including neatness, sleeping habits and whether they smoke. A Facebook page also is being developed where students can look for the right roomie on their own.
Ohio State Raising Room and Board by Over $400
Ohio State University's trustees have approved an increase that would charge resident students an average of $465 more for room and board in the next school year.
The board of trustees approved the 5.5 percent increase on Friday.
Ohio State University To Increase Tuition
The Ohio State University Board of Trustees today approved a two-part increase in tuition for Columbus campus undergraduates beginning with a 3.5 percent increase for the upcoming Summer Quarter. An additional 3.5 percent increase will take effect beginning Fall Quarter for the 2010-2011 academic year.
