Two Marion Students Named Winners in Weather Safety Poster Contest
Landon Long, a second grader in Pickaway County during the 2011-2012 school year, was recognized at the Ohio State Fair as the overall state winner in a statewide poster contest. 52 other students were also recognized as regional winners in the contest, including Daphne Parker, a first grader at Liberty Elementary, and Evan Hopple, a fifth grader at Liberty Elementary.
River Valley FFA Members Earn State Level Awards
18 members of the River Valley FFA Chapter attended the 84th Ohio State FFA Convention at the beginning of May. Several of the members were recognized with various awards for their work, including six members who earned their State FFA Degree.
Two Marion Students Awarded $40k Scholarships
The opportunity to attend the scholars’ dream universities, that’s how Brad Bebout, president of Marion Community Foundation, describes the intention behind two new impact scholarships awarded by the Foundation this spring.
The two recipients of Marion Community Foundation’s Robert M. and Dorothy C. Wopat Scholarship are Lauren Thomas, a senior at Marion Harding High School, and Aron Gibson, a senior at River Valley High School.
River Valley “Is Going To Look Different”
River Valley Superintendent Tom Shade says the district is going to look a lot different with the cuts were made earlier this year. The failure of the levy Tuesday is not going to help that situation, which Shade says will only get worse without new funds.
Pleasant, RV School Levies Fail, Pleasant Fire Passes
The unofficial election results are in for the 2010 Primary Election in Marion County. Pleasant School's earned income tax levy and River Valley's phased-in property tax levy have both failed to win over voters.
