Daniel L. “Danny” Franklin, 64, of Marion

Daniel L. “Danny” FranklinDaniel L. “Danny” Franklin, age 64, of Marion, died Thursday evening, July 2, 2015, at Marion General Hospital following an extended illness.

On February 28, 1951, Danny was born in Marion, Ohio, the oldest of nine children of the late Alvin and Marguerite (Knapp) Franklin.  Growing up, Danny left school early to work and help his parents raise his younger siblings.

In 1968, Danny met his wife to be, Donna McCleese, at the Eagles Club in Marion.  Soon thereafter they started dating and the rest was history.  Danny and Donna were married on June 6, 1970, and they have cherished their 45 years of marriage together.

For over 44 years, Danny worked at Todco Overhead Doors, and could do any job there.

A man of faith, Danny attended Victory Center Church of God.  He also was a member of the American Legion Post 584 and AmVets Post 138.

An avid fisherman, Danny loved fishing anywhere he could find water.  He also enjoyed making jewelry with his sister, Patty, which they had fun selling at the Rotary Towers.

To say Danny was a Beatles fan would be a huge understatement.  Danny had a different Beatles shirt to wear for every day of the month, and he listened to their music every chance he could.

Having a fun loving personality, Danny was a jokester who loved to be the center of attention.  He made people smile everywhere he went.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Donna Franklin; three children: David (Shelli) Franklin, Julie (Michael) Lucas, and Matthew Franklin; seven grandchildren: Alexa and Wyatt Franklin, Savanna (Jesse) Schrake, Destinee Riser, Bryce Pierce, and Kristi and Shyann Franklin; eight siblings: Monna Boast, James Franklin, Alvin Franklin, Yvonne (Ted) Thomas, Brenda (Arnold) Biggs, Patricia Meade, Anthony (Lisa) Franklin, and Stephanie (Ray) Stith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family will greet friends from Noon – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7th, at the Victory Center Church of God (address below).  Services honoring his life will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Don Howell officiating.  Burial will then follow in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Center Church of God, 1190 E. Fairground Rd., Marion, OH 43302.
