The Marion Amateur Radio Club is holding their annual Field Day this weekend. From 2:00 pm Saturday to 2:00 pm Sunday, local radio enthusiasts will be at Sawyer-Ludwig Park providing demonstrations and the chance to try out this long-time hobby and emergency communication.

State Moves to Shut Down “Sham Charity”
Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray is seeking emergency court orders to prevent Ohioans' contributions from being collected by a Florida-based "veterans" charity being investigated by several states. He also noted troubling revelations that the man who appears to have orchestrated this sham charity made hundreds of thousands of dollars in political contributions to candidates throughout the United States and in Ohio.
Celebrate Summer Returns for 18th Year
Saturday, June 26, is the 18th Annual Celebrate Summer Festival in downtown Marion. Events run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. New this year though is entertainment at the Palace Theatre at 7:00 pm.
In addition to the art and kids events, this will be the second year that The Marion Historical Society has sponsored the Antique Car and Truck show which will be featured along Center Street.

Water Safety Urged, “Stay Out and Stay Alive”
The Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and the Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA) have joined forces to promote summer water safety through the “Stay-Out and Stay-Alive” program.
City of Marion Fogging for Mosquitoes
The City of Marion will be fogging mosquitoes on Friday, June 25th, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, if weather conditions permit. The areas that will be sprayed include the city parks.
Neighborhood Complaints Lead to Drug Arrest
This morning, Thursday, June 24, the MARMET Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 139 West Walnut Street in the City of Marion in connection to a drug trafficking investigation. During the search, officers say they found drugs and made one arrest.
Boys and Girls Club in Marion Award Finalist
The Boys & Girls Club of Marion County was recently nominated among a handful of 37,000 non-profit organizations statewide for the Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award.
The organization was nominated specifically for their Project Learn program, which is dedicated to strengthening and enhancing the academic and social skills learned throughout the school day.
Group Donates Over $4,000 for Hospital Equipment
Marion General Hospital's TWIG VII recently donated $4,190 toward the purchase of a Biostep semi-recumbent elliptical machine. Benefits of the machine include zero joint impact, large seating area, step-through design, integral contact and polar telemetry heart rate monitoring, and large easy to display features.
Drunk Boaters Target of Ohio’s Waterways Safety Enforcement
As many as 70 State Watercraft officers, joined by U.S. Coast Guard and local marine patrol officers, will participate in Operation Dry Water June 25-27 to remove boaters impaired by alcohol and drugs from state waterways, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Watercraft.
