Three days of activities planned as part of Earth Week in Marion County

Marion County Recycling & Litter Prevention has teamed up with businesses and non-profit organizations for a number of activities as part of the 2015 Earth Week. Those activities include a Downtown Marion clean up, festival-type events, a 5k, electronics recycling, and a lot more.

  • Join local businesses, government offices, and community volunteers on Thursday, April 16th for the Annual Downtown Marion Clean-Up. Invite your co-workers to the County Courthouse at noon. Work gloves, trash bags, and bottled water provided. Enjoy lunch after the clean-up at the Courtyard Pub & Grub. Volunteers receive a 10% discount.
  • Celebrate Earth Week at the ECO Center Free Family Festival on Saturday, April 18th from 11am-4pm, featuring barrel train rides, door prizes, educational environmental activities, food, music, local vendors, a recycled art show, and more. The Nucor Earth Day 5K Run/Walk/Recycle will kick off festivities at 10am. Visit premierraces.org to register.  ECO Center is located in Caledonia at 1757 County Road 59.
  • Free paper shredding and electronics recycling at The Ohio State University at Marion on Wednesday, April 22nd from 10am-2pm, plus TV recycling for only $1 an inch. Pick-up services funded by Marion County Council on Aging are available for older adults. The community is also invited to join OSUM and local high school students for Earth Day guest lectures, tree-planting, and a litter clean-up.
