Joseph L. Murphy, age 57, of Marion, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Riverside Hospital.
Born August 28, 1956 in Marion, OH, he is the son of Joseph L. and Islea Beth (Endicott) Murphy.
Joseph attended Marion Catholic High School and graduated from Marion Harding in 1974. After graduation, he attended Valparaiso College in Indiana and The Ohio State University and worked for General Machine and Saw Corporation.
In 1986, Joseph was married, in Niagara Falls, by the mayor, to Loretta Schaber.
Joseph enjoyed having fun, working puzzles, watching the news and football, and always made time for friends, family and especially his grandchildren.
Joseph is survived by father, Joseph L. Murphy; step-son Joshua (Julie) Alexander of Marion and their children, Chesney and Bronson; brothers, Tim (Maripat) Murphy of Florida, Ed (Lucetta) Murphy, of Indiana, and Matt (Marry Faith) Murphy of Marion, sisters, Mollie (Richard) Myers of Florida and Kathy (Ross) Smith of Marion; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by mother, Beth Murphy, step-son, Jason Alexander and his daughter, Melinda Alexander.
Calling hours will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors from 5 until 7:30PM. A Funeral service will be celebrated at St. Mary Church on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 10AM with Father Thomas Buffer. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
