Vincent “Ray” Chapman, age 66, of Ironton and formerly of Marion, Ohio, died Sunday evening, December 4, 2016, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
On June 20, 1950, Ray was born in Marion, Ohio, the son of the late Vincent and Leona (Huffman) Chapman.
A dedicated worker, Ray did foundry work, construction and roofing. For several years, he worked at United Roofing in Ashville, North Carolina.
An avid fisherman, Ray loved to go fishing with his best friends; his brother, Steven, and his cousins: Ronnie and Bobby. They were inseparable. As a family, they all looked forward to their yearly trip to Lake Erie, to catch, cook and eat as much fish as possible.
Always there for his family, Ray loved being there to help his beloved family in any way he could. He was a quiet, loving, good hearted man, who will be missed.
He will be missed by his sisters: Viola (Don) Thompson of Texas, and Carol Vanderhoff of Marion; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Including his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Chapman; and a half-brother and three half-sisters.
His family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, GUNDER/HALL Chapel, 347 W. Center St., Marion. Services honoring his life will be observed there at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
