Youth basketball registration is currently underway at the Marion Family YMCA. The program focuses on teaching the athletes basic skills, teamwork & sportsmanship. In YMCA Sports, everybody plays equal playing time and has the opportunity to play different positions. Practice will be held once a week at each team coach’s discretion, with games being played on Saturday mornings.
The session lasts from January 11 to February 15, 2014, and is open for ages 5-6, 7-8 and 9-12. All of the games will be played on Saturday mornings beginning January 18, 2014. The 1st week (January 11) will be practice only.
Volunteer coaches are also needed. A coaches meeting will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 6:30 PM.
The fee is $45 for members and $60 for program participants. The price includes a reversible basketball jersey, and awards.
Registration deadline is December 28, 2013. There will be a $10 late fee for anyone registering after this date.
Scholarships are available. Bring your tax return to the Marion Family YMCA Service Center at the time of registration for youth soccer for immediate approval. Families with annual income of $35,000 or less may qualify for a $20 reduction fee.
