Town Hall Meeting to Explore the Future of Marion

Community residents are invited to a League of Women Voters’ Town Hall Meeting (THM) next week. The program will include round table discussions regarding the goals and action plans being worked on by the EnVISIONing Marion County (EMC) community planning project.

AAA Expands Efforts to End Texting While Driving

In the coming month, drivers in Marion County, along with those in 18 other Ohio counties, will encounter AAA billboards that read “SRSLY, DNT TXT AND DRV.” In addition, radio listeners throughout Ohio will hear messages highlighting the dangers of distracted driving and urging them to stop texting behind the wheel.

Historical Society Holding Annual Rummage Sale

The Marion County Historical Society is having a Museum and Membership Rummage sale on April 21, Saturday from 9-5 PM. The sale will be held in the auditorium at Heritage Hall and also in the parking lot behind the museum, weather permitting. A Members Only Presale will be held on April 20 from 4-6 pm.  Organizers ask that you bring your Membership ID for admittance to the presale.

City Council Holds Brief Committee Meetings

Marion City Council held three committee meetings Tuesday evening to discuss three topics; a budget review, sewer improvement contract, and combining the positions of Safety Director and Service Director.

Counselor to Talk Dating, Relationships on Marion Campus

The Ohio State University at Marion welcomes Annette Franks, M.Ed., LPC to campus, Thursday, April 19, at noon, in Morrill Hall, Room 290.  Franks will present a free program entitled "The Art of Dating & Creating Healthy Relationships.”

Beecham Wanted for Felony Assault

The Marion Police Department is seeking Robert M. Beecham for a felony warrant. He is a 21-year-old white male with brown hair and green eyes. He stands 6-feet 1-inches tall and weighs 170 lbs. His address is unknown.

Several Marion Events Planned Around Earth Day

Earth Day is April 22 and there are several events planned for Marion to celebrate, learn, and clean up. Events include a Downtown Marion clean up, concert fundraiser, inter-faith breakfast, kids’ activities, electronics recycling, paper shredding, and more.

Marine Raises Thousands with 10-mile Run

A local marine on leave before being deployed to Afghanistan said he isn’t special following his 10-mile run on Friday to raise money for Boys & Girls Club (BGC) of Marion County. Others who spoke at a brief ceremony disagreed with his assertion and expressed pride for his unselfishness.
