Four Cases on Schedule for Supreme Court Session in Marion

The Supreme Court of Ohio has confirmed the four cases it will hear in official session in Marion County on Wednesday, April 25, as part of its semiannual Off-Site Court Program. Oral arguments will be held before the seven Justices of the Supreme Court at 9 a.m. at the Marion County Court of Common Pleas, 100 North Main Street, in Marion.

MGH Receives American Heart Association Award

Marion General Hospital has received the Get With the Guidelines–Heart Failure (GWTG–Heart Failure) Gold Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association, according to a media release. Get With The Guidelines is a quality improvement initiative that provides hospital staff with tools that follow proven evidence-based guidelines and procedures in caring for heart failure patients to prevent future hospitalizations.

Democratic Caucus to Be Held at Tri-Rivers

A Democratic caucus will be held April 12 at 6:30pm at Tri-Rivers Career Center, 2222 Marion-Mt. Gilead Road in Marion. The Marion Democratic Caucus has been apportioned four district-level delegates for the old 4th Congressional district.

The Ohio State University has announced a $50 million increase in student financial aid over the next four years. The initiatives include new scholarships and grants that will help additional students attend the university each year.

State Route 4 Construction Delayed Until Monday

The Ohio Department of Transportation says road work planned for State Route 4 on Friday has now been moved to Monday, April 9, because of some issues with the equipment. ODOT says motorists using State Route 4 between State Route 423 in Marion County and US 33 in Union County should plan extra time for their commute.

Local Marine to Complete Grueling Run for Local Kids

As if serving his country wasn’t enough, Marine Corporal Brandon Makowski says he wanted to find a way to give back and help local kids.  The Waldo native came up with the idea of collecting pledges for him to complete a long-distance run during his Pre-Deployment leave. This is not your ordinary run; he will complete a 10-mile trek from Waldo to Marion with a 50-pound rucksack on his back.
