Free Produce Offered Through WIC Farmer’s Market

On Tuesday, July 17, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, the Marion Public Health WIC Program will be sponsoring a Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program at the Marion County Fairgrounds. The WIC Farmer’s Market will give eligible WIC participants a chance to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables through a coupon process.

New Human Trafficking Law Signed

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine Wednesday expressed his support for a new law signed by Governor John Kasich. House Bill 262, sponsored by Representative Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo), also known as the Safe Harbor Law, focuses on human trafficking and will increase the penalties for suspects and improve care for victims.

Information Meeting Set for Miss Teen Popcorn

The 2012 Miss Teen Popcorn will be chosen Saturday, August 11, 7:00 p.m., in festivities at River Valley High School. When you buy frozen yogurt from Groovy Spoon in Marion on Wednesday, June 27, the Boys and Girls Club of Marion County will receive a portion of your bill. 20 percent of all sales on Wednesday, between 5:00pm and 9:00pm, will go towards the non-profit, but if you bring in a special flyer, they’ll donate an additional 25 cents.

Police Arrest Suspect in Armed Robbery

The Marion Police Department made a quick arrest following an armed robbery on Monday, June 24. The arrest was made thanks to the willing help of an alert resident.

Marion Gas Station Robbed at Gun Point

The Marion Police Department says the BP gas station at 1070 Mt. Vernon Avenue was robbed at gun point Monday, June 25. Officers responded to the scene at just before 10:30pm.

Applebee’s, United Way Team Up for Fundraiser

If you dine at Applebee's in Marion through June 30, from 11 am to close, 10 percent of the bill will be donated to United Way of Marion County’s education, income, and health initiatives when you present the flyer for the event. All you have to do is present the flyer for the fundraiser when you pay your bill at Applebee's.
